Meet the designer, Alena Goretskaya

by | Oct 15, 2014

Alena Goretskaya has been the company’s chief designer for more than 15 years. Her impeccable taste, natural talent and personality allow her to create elegant sophisticated wedding gowns and fashionable evening & cocktail dresses. Her designs always impress, inspire and fascinate everyone.

Alena Goretskaya has transformed Papilio into the brand with international recognition. The company’s presence continues to expand worldwide with boutique openings in more than 120 cities all over the world.

Alena has always been in touch with design. She spent her childhood surrounded by seamstresses in a small town dressmaker workshop. While watching her mother working, she enjoyed making outfits for her paper dolls. This hobby took a whole new level later on in life. Twenty years ago she started working for the first wedding store in her home town Brest. This job changed her life because that was the place where she met her future business partner and decided to open her own atelier.

Today Alena became one of the most favoured European designers in the world of bridal and evening fashion. All her dresses are made in Europe. The designer only works with finest lightweight fabrics and luxurious decor. French lace, airy tulles, silk organza, natural taffeta, Swarovski crystals, pearls, rhinestones, hand embroidery and beading, just to name a few. Those are the attributes and secrets to her amazing work. Alena’s team of designers and seamstresses spend months creating each silhouette in order to ensure perfect fit and exceptional quality of sewing. Her main philosophy is to provide value without sacrificing.

For every collection Alena offers a very classy and feminine touch. The main accents of the dresses are put on elegance and luxury and nothing less. Alena Goretskaya explains:

[blockquote text=’Historically, a wedding dress was a symbol of purity, modesty and tenderness. Wedding itself is a beginning of a new life, an eternal journey of two hearts, where the bride represents love and fidelity. In my designs I am trying to keep those ideas no matter where the wedding fashion brings us every year. I do not like too open dresses, or extreme poor quality embellishments.’ text_color=” title_tag=” width=” line_height=’undefined’ background_color=” border_color=” show_quote_icon=’yes’ quote_icon_color=’#f2a37e’ quote_icon_size=”]
